PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE FROM CHRIS KIMERER
As this year draws to a close, I would like to thank each and everyone for your commitment, participation and volunteering for all the activities and events we put on as a club. Many clubs and organizations are struggling or folding, and not just dog clubs, so I'm so very proud of our small group that stays dedicated to our beautiful breed that deserves nothing less from us.
Starting with our January Annual Meeting Tuesday January 14th, 2020 we will be holding our monthly meetings thru May at the beautiful North Kansas City Community Center at Macken Park. As last year, we have partnered again with North Kansas City Parks & Rec and Kelli Votypka is so excited to work with us again in 2020. Thank you, Debbie McHenry for coordinating this with Kelli for next year. Our outside meetings will also stay in Macken Park at the main Shelter House and we look forward to great inside programs and outside activities next year.
January already starts off with a big bang with our Tracking Tests the weekend after our Annual Meeting, at beautiful Smithville Lake on January 19th, 2020. Pat Robinette has done a phenomenal job chairing this event making sure all the major components are covered with volunteers. Rosi von Fintel and Ray Laughlin have been busy securing the tracklayers, a vital component to a successful tracking test. The tracking community certainly helps one another when tests are given and we appreciate the outside the club volunteers for their hard efforts to make a test happen!
I look forward to another great year for our club, if you haven't come to anything lately, please plan to attend and join us for quality educational programs and see what is happening "in your club".
Lastly, with all the busy-ness of the holiday season, here is a gentle reminder if you haven't sent in your dues, please do so by January 1st, 2020. Wishing everyone a safe Holiday Season and see you next Year.
~Chris~

On our final trial leg for Armina’s Rally Master title she took 2nd place with a score of 92! This was her final year to show and we have had a great time working on the Master level! I would like to say that Armina has been a fantastic partner as we 2 old ladies learned to work together in the show ring. That first year I was so excited and terrified and unable to breathe in the ring! Armina was such a rock, she is what held us together.
We joined the Greater Kansas City Dog Training Club March 2017 and the German Shepherd Dog Club of Greater Kansas City in April 2017. We started off testing for Armina’s CGC in April and my 8-year-old girl nailed it. Then during the summer and fall 2017 we trained and showed in Beginner Novice, Rally Novice, and Trick Novice receiving titles in each, thus earning Armina the AKC Achiever Dog Award that year.
In 2018 (and only slightly less nervous) we worked our way through AKC Obedience’s Preferred Novice and Novice legs getting titles in both while also doubling down on Rally Advanced, Excellent, and combined Advanced/Excellent (RAE). Armina completed her last 3 legs for Rally RAE at the German Shepherd National Trials at Purina Farms in October. Armina also pursued and earned titles for Intermediate and Advanced Trick Dog. All this made 2018 a very busy, very productive year for us; and WE WERE SO PUMPED!!!
So now at 10+ years old my very lovely and talented Gipe’s Brunhild Armina earned her final title of Rally Master at the September Trials held at the Raytown club. This girl has come so far; in the years she has been part of our family she’s gone from a very timid, inexperienced backyard dog to a solid, trustworthy companion dog, and after having mastered the many levels of Rally she has proved once and for all that you can teach an old dog new tricks! Of course, it is a lot easier if said dog is a German Shepherd!!!
